Diana has been
practicing earth-honoring spiritual traditions since 1998, connecting with spirit guides
and doing healing work with other practitioners who have been her mentors, supporters, and instigators for her growth. Since 2007, she has been practicing
journeywork as taught by the Foundation of
Shamanic Studies, a nonprofit organization founded by Michael Harner to study, restore, and teach
shamanism and shamanic healing worldwide.
Diana is a graduate of the Foundation's Shamanic Healing Intensive, the Harner Method Shamanic Counseling program, and the Three-year Course in Advanced Initiations in Shamanism. Diana is deeply committed to shamanic journeying for herself, doing healing work for others, connecting with the spirits of place, and understands that training and practice is a lifetime commitment. She is also a member of the Foundation of Shamanic Studies.
Diana has an ongoing practice doing ritual with various spiritual communities, as well as a regular practice in core shamanism, Harner’s term for underlying near-universal shamanic principles and practices. By not imitating any specific cultural tradition, but rather by emphasizing the underlying cross-cultural principles, core shamanism is suited for utilization by Westerners who desire a relatively culture-free system that we can adopt and integrate into our contemporary lives.
Diana’s academic training includes an M.A. in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology, MFT (MFC #45031), a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy, and a B.A. in psychology from UC Riverside.
Diana is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 45031) offering psychotherapy as well as shamanic counseling and healing to individuals, filial therapy (parent-child relational therapy) to parents, and play therapy for children ages 3-11 years old. Please visit DianaHalfmann.com for more information about her psychotherapy practice.
Some of my clients have started off with the shamanic counseling and continued on in therapy to further deepen the work and understanding of how to apply the wisdom in their daily lives.
Shamanic Counseling is not only integrated easily into psychotherapeutic work, but has the power to enliven you and expand your consciousness beyond the typical way you have viewed your life challenges. It allows you to tap into the wisdom of your suffering in order to help you move through life's transitions with more grace and balance.
